AI relay-service warnings turn data leakage into a product trust requirement
SCMP reported on 8 June 2026 that China’s national security authority warned about “AI relay services” that connect local developers or users to overseas AI models. The notice cited risks including data leaks, privacy breaches and unauthorised cross-border transfers.
For Bubbll, the practical takeaway is broader than one market. Any chat, CRM or operations platform that uses third-party AI needs to know where data travels, what is sent, who can inspect it and how a user or business can revoke access. AI routing is now part of trust-and-safety architecture.
This is especially important for SMEs handling customer conversations, hotel guest records, payment context or support cases. A helpful AI feature becomes dangerous if it quietly moves sensitive data through an unclear middle layer.
