Walmart’s Subway delivery integration blurs retail, restaurant and marketplace workflows

Retail Dive reported on 5 June 2026 that Walmart is rolling out express delivery for select Subway shops through Walmart’s website and app. The report says the service starts in several U.S. states and is expected to expand to about 1,400 locations by the end of the summer, showing how restaurant ordering can become part of a broader retail checkout journey.

Walmart’s Subway delivery integration blurs retail, restaurant and marketplace workflows

Retail Dive reported on 5 June 2026 that Walmart is expanding its express delivery service to Subway orders at select locations through Walmart.com and the Walmart app. According to the report, the option is live in parts of Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas, with expansion planned to about 1,400 locations by the end of the summer.

The practical message is bigger than one chain partnership. A customer can increasingly combine restaurant items with retail purchasing behavior, which means ordering, fulfillment expectations, loyalty and support all start to overlap.

Why it matters for Bubbll

For Thai restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, hotels and residences, the next commerce layer is not a separate ordering form for every use case. Bubbll should support mixed journeys: food orders, room service, retail add-ons, delivery status, loyalty and human support in one conversational relationship instead of scattered channels.
